S5 AND S6 - HIGHER BIOLOGY

Biology provides pupils with an understanding of themselves and the natural world in which they live.
The course covers 3 units of study; Cell Biology, Genetics & Adaptation and Control & Regulation.
Pupils are primarily assessed on 2 course objectives. Knowledge and understanding asseses the ability to recall and understand facts and principles. Problem Solving skills include; selecting, presenting and processing information, planning, designing and evaluating experimental procedure, drawing valid conclusions and providing explanations and making predictions and generalisations based on evidence.
Practical work underpins theoretical work and develops skills.
